Watching television in 1958 to Connected television in 2011

TV has made some great strides since the 1950's – now 2011 wii not much has changed visually until now. We use to huddle with the family in front of the TV or dance with American Bandstand and Soul Train. Now, thanks to Yahoo! and Google we're connected.

Yahoo is introducing an innovative consumer experience for TV, called broadcast interactivity, on its platform: Yahoo! Connected, bringing Internet-enhanced television to millions of consumers across the world's most popular TV brands. The new feature is slated to launch with select national broadcast + cable TV leaders and top brand advertisers.

Yahoo's pilot program content collaborates with ABC, CBS, HSN, and Showtime in the first half of 2011. Yahoo! Connected will showcase examples of the broadcast interactivity feature at CES (January 6 - 9, 2011). Brand advertisers Ford, Mattel and Microsoft are also planning to work with Yahoo! to deliver interactivity with their TV advertising.

Television (TV) - arguably the most widely used telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images - merges with Internet information gobblers. I like to see innovations merge like Yahoo TV and Google TV, then see them segue like grafting fruit trees (a method of asexual plant propagation widely used in agriculture and horticulture; tissues of one plant are encouraged to fuse with those of another) into new inhabitants of technology. That said, it will be veddy interesting.

The International CES is produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the consumer technology industry.
